Second round complete at U.S. Open
The second round of the U.S. Open was completed shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday. Ricky Barnes fired a second-round 65, finishing it up on Saturday morning, to take a 1-shot lead over Lucas Glover in the 109th championship being held at Bethpage Black.
The 8-under-par total of 132 is a new US Open record, breaking the old mark of Jim Furyk (2003) by one shot. Mike Weir is in third place two shots behind Barnes while David Duval leads a three-way tie for fourth place five shots behind.
Phil Mickelson is in a tie for 12th place at 1-under, seven strokes behind Barnes, while defending champions Tiger Woods is in a tie for 41st place, 11 shots behind.
The cut came at 4-over 144. The third round will begin soon.
