Liu, Garvin win Connecticut Junior PGA titles
Jason Liu of Windsor and Angela Garvin of Feeding Hills, Mass., were
the boys and girls champions of the Connecticut Junior PGA Championship
Thursday at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Massachusetts.
Liu's two-round total of 5-under-par 139 was four strokes better than runner-up Nicklaus Harrington of Chaplin. Dennis Biglin of Glastonbury finished third (146). Check out the rest of the scores in the boys division.
Garvin beat defending champion Marissa Grillo of Avon in a sudden-death playoff, which Garvin won on the fifth extra hole with birdie. Both players finished with two-round totals of 8-over 152.
MacKenzie Hawkes of Madison, the Connecticut Women's Golf Association champion from June, tied for fourth place at 173. The rest of the leaderboard can be found here.
Both Liu and Garvin qualified for the 39th Junior PGA Championship July 29-Aug. 1, 2014, at Miramont Country Club in Bryan/College Station, Texas.
The final round was suspended from Wednesday night to Thursday morning due to inclement weather.
