Rain gone away?
With the rite of spring comes April showers. Every spring, it seems like we all say it's the worst we ever had and the baseball games are postponed left and right. Some of the teams, mainly Plainville, Bristol Central and Barlow-Redding, have played just five games or less. Teams played four to five games last week just to catch up and get back on schedule. Bunnell-Stratford played a home game Saturday morning against McMahon-Norwalk, then traveled to Danbury to play Immaculate in the afternoon. Ther are chances of showers in the forecast for the middle of the week, which could lead to more postponements. For fields that don;t drain well, that becomes a problem. Those schools have to play on the road instead in hopes they can play the return game on their home field. It's a race to get all 20 regular-season games in by May 22, usually when the league tournaments have already begun. Some teams may fall short and it could affect seeding in the CIAC state tournament. But rest assured, the state tournament will begin on May 29, the day after Memorial Day - weather permitting, of course.
