It's official - Brian Gardiner in at Shelton

The Shelton Board of Education unanimously approved Brian Gardiner to become the head boys' basketball coach at Shelton. He replaces Joe Sedlock, who Gardiner was an assistant for.
One of the other candidates for the job was none other than Shelton mayor Mark A. Lauretti, a former standout player himself and a former varsity coach at Bridgeport Central.

Read Thursday's coverage in the New Haven Register regarding Lauretti's reaction to not getting the position at Shelton.

In other news, final interviews were conducted for the Wilbur Cross boys' basketball job last week. Anthony Hill, the current Berlin coach, still looks to be the front-runner, but Jim Rooney, the former girls coach at Guilford, where he won three consecutive Class L state championships, is still in the picture.
