Giancola leads CT PGA by 4

Kevin Giancola birdied his final three holes to shoot a 70 Tuesday and get to 6-under-par and lead by 4 shots after two rounds of the Connecticut PGA Championship at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield.
Giancola, who teaches at Golf Quest in Southington, previously won this championship in 2003 and 2008. His two-round total is 138. Frank Leja Jr. of the Evergreene Golf Center (142) and Brian Keister of Wethersfield CC (142) will both be in the final group with Giancola today at 9:54 a.m.
Mike Martin (143) from Clubs To Go and a New Haven resident is the only other player under par for the tournament.
Defending champion Fran Marrello of Canaan CC, Tom Gleeton from CC of Waterbury and Paul Barnsley from Race Brook CC are among five people tied for fifth place 8 shots behind Giancola.
