Connecticut wins NE Junior Championship
Nick Torrance from Lake of Isles shot a 2-under-par 70 and Andy Mai from Suffield shot a 1-under 71 on Wednesday to help Connecticut emerge with the 2010 New England Junior Championship at Abenaqui Country Club in New Hampshire.
Connecticut won its sixth title in nine years by 8 shots over New Hampshire. Connecticut had a 1,108 cumulative total for 54 holes while New Hampshire had 1,116, followed by Massachusetts (1,129), Rhode Island (1,159), Maine (1,168) and Vermont (1,186).
Brian Tohir of New Canaan CC finished third behind Mai (221) and Torrance (222) with a three-round total of 223. Brian Engstrom of Branford finished at 237.
