Game of the Year

It won't go down as one of the most memorable games of the 2007-08 boys' basketball season, but it should.
Sheehan coming from behind to beat Branford 70-69 Friday night and sweeping the season series was as entertaining a game as I have seen all year. Both teams shot above 50 prcent (Branfrd above 60) as both teams made 28 field goals apiece.
It was more than just drivesto the basket. It was acrobatic shots in the lane. There were 16 three-points shots made, 10 by Sheehan. Sheehan guards Phil Gaetano and Matt Pascuzzo combined for 18 assists.
Branford's Tucker Esborn had 19 points in the game, but none in the fourth quarter. In a game of "Can you top this?" Sheehan's defense as able to hold Branford to one basket in the final 3 1/2 minutes of the game, and that came at the buzzer.
Sure it was a heart-breaking loss for Branford, which never trailed in the fourth quarter until their were 33 seconds left. But for those in attendance, they will be talking about this game for the rest of the year - and realize both teams will be tough outs when the SCC tournament rolls around.
