Kim likely to miss Travelers

Anthony Kim had hoped to play through the pain of a left thumb injury throughout most of the golf season. But the pain became too much and, as a result, Kim had surgery Wednesday.

According to a statement put out by IMG, Kim's agent, the rehabilitation process will take 10-12 weeks. That would put him out of both the U.S. Open and the Travelers Championship, which follows the Open June 24-27 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Kim committed to play in the Travelers last month.

This is eerily similar to what happened to Phil Mickelson three years ago when he injured his wrist, had to withdraw from a few tournaments, including the first Travelers Championship.

Kim is currently No. 11 in the World Golf Rankins. He won the Houston Open in April and finished third at the Masters the following week.
