Dave Jones from Norwich shot a 1-over-par 145 total for 36 holes Monday at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien to earn medalist honors and a spot in the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship to be held on Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay GC in University Place, Wash.
Also earning spots were Will Smith of Avon and Tommy McDonagh of Norwalk. Both shot 2-over 146.
Two spots are available next Monday at the other U.S. Amateur qualifier to be held in Connecticut at New Haven CC.
