Whaley Named to Golf Digest 50 Best Teachers in America
Suzy Whaley made Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers in America for the first time in the magazine’s November issue. Whaley, who teaches at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, was one of six new instructors to make the list.
Whaley's coaching mentor is 1988 PGA Teacher of the Year Jim Flick and her husband, Bill Whaley, National Director of Golf Operations for the TPC network. She has been a guest on Golf Channel numerous times. She’s also filmed golf series tips for ESPN, Golfweek TV, Golf for Women, and a series of tips for local television in Connecticut. Her golf written contributions have appeared in Golf Digest, Golf, Golf for Women, and Golfer Girl magazine.
Her teaching accolades also include a top 5 national female teacher designation by Golf Digest magazine, and a top 50 US Kids teacher. She is also a two-time LPGA Northeast Teacher of the Year and is a two- time PGA Teacher of the Year honoree in the Connecticut PGA Section. She is currently the PGA Junior Golf Chairperson and is a PGA National Board member.
Whaley played on the LPGA Tour for two years before starting a family. In 2003, she was the second women to qualify and play in a PGA Tour event in the Greater Hartford Open.
