CROMWELL — He won a PGA Tour event against arguably the best field in golf this year, yet Matt Kuchar still flies under the radar.

Kuchar won The Players Championship — which is termed “The Fifth Major” — in May, but he won’t command the attention Webb Simpson will this week for winning the U.S. Open. He also won’t have people hounding him like they will Bubba Watson, the reigning Masters champion and 2010 Travelers Championship winner.

“My life is not going to change. I do a good job not paying attention to the outside stuff,” Kuchar said. “It’s different being a U.S. Open champion, that’s for sure. Webb will have a plate full of stuff over the next couple of months. Tiger (Woods) does it every week. Phil (Mickelson) does it every week. I don’t have to deal with it.”
