Bill Hermanson of the Black Hall Club shot a 1-over 72 to take a 1-shot lead after the opening round of the Connecticut Senior Amateur at the Golf Club of Avon.

Dave Blovish (Ellington Ridge CC) and Craig Dubois (QWintonbury Hills GC) are tied for second at 2-over 73 and Dave Szewczul (Tunxis Plantation CC) is fourth after a 74. Dave Zeid of New Haven CC is tied for fifth with a 4-over 75 and Lou Stone (New Haven CC) and James Klapper (Clinton CC) both shot 76.
