Golf coverage

Former Trinity College grad Jay Williamson is the sole leader heading into the final round of the Travelers Championship. He leads by one stroke over Hunter Mahan and by two over David Toms.
Williamson would be a great story, not only because he has state ties, but because he is playing at this event on a sponsor's exemption. He currently plays on the Nationwide Tour. Only a victory would immediately return him to the PGA Tour.
Of course, a win would also make him the third straight player with New England ties to win the event. Fairfield native J.J. Henry won it last year and Rhode Island resident Brad Faxon captured the title two years ago.
But this tournament is very far from over. Fred Funk lurks three strokes back, Nick O'Hern and Pat Perez are four back. And Vijay Singh is six strokes but could post a low number, then sit and wait to see what happens.
Williamson and Mahan go off in the final group at 1:55 p.m. Beautiful weather is expected. If you don't have plans, come on out and enjoy the golf. Make sure you take in the entire experience because this tournament, finally, looks to be here to stay.
