Day, Zach Johnson latest coming to Travelers
The Travelers Championship now has three of the top six players in the official world rankings coming to TPC River Highlands.
Jason Day, ranked sixth, was one of four golfers announced by the tournament at its annual media day Tuesday. Former major champions Zach Johnson and Keegan Bradley, along with Jonas Blixt, have also committed.
Previously announced were two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, currently fourth in the rankings, and Matt Kuchar, ranked fifth. Day won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February and has finished second in three different major championships. His only previous appearance in Cromwell was a tie for 27th place in 2008.
Johnson, the 2007 Masters champion, is 10th in the FedExCup standings and No. 12 in the world rankings. His best finish in eight previous appearances is a tie for third in 2004.
Bradley, the 2011 PGA Championship winner, is making his fourth straight appearance. He tied for 18th last year. Ranked 19th overall, Bradley has eight top 25 finishes in 13 events.
Blixt tied for 43rd place in his only previous appearance last year at the Travelers. He has won twice on tour and finished second to Watson at the Masters earlier this month.
The Travelers now has six of the world’s top 20 golfers. Previously committed Dustin Johnson is ranked 13th.
