Floyd, Jr. leads at Palmer Cup
Floyd, Jr., leads Palmer Cup: Ray Floyd, Jr. of Innis Arden Golf Club fired a 2-under-par 67 to hold the first-round lead at the 11th Palmer Cup at CC of Waterbury.
Floyd Jr., the son of the former successful PGA and Champions Tour golfer by the same name, holds a two-stroke lead over Zach Zaback and Monte Mullen, both of whom play out of TPC River Highlands. Zaback and Mullen shot even-par 69.
John Flaherty, also of TPC River Highlands, is alone in fourth place after shooting a 71. Ben Day (New Haven CC) is in a group of five golfers tied for fifth place 4-over 73, six shots behind Floyd, Jr.
