Rainaud wins Lowell tournament
Adam Rainaud, an assistant pro at the Black Hall Club in Old Lyme, shot a 4-under par 68 Tuesday to win the Walter Lowell PGA Tournament at Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam.
Rainaud, who is coming off a runner-up finish in the Spring Stroke Play event two weeks ago, finished with 27 points in the modified Stableford event. Tony Kelley, Glenn Carlson, Ian Marshall, and Brian Gehan scored a total of 75 points to win the team competition.
The respective division winners were: Brent Paladino (Connecticut State Golf Association), Augusta National Division; Kevin Shea, Great Neck CC, 24 points; Kevin Giancola, Golf Quest, St. Andrews Division; and Tony Kelley, Wyckoff CC, Whistling Straits Division.
Richter Park GC in Danbury won the 2015 Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award, given annually since 2001 to a public course in the Connecticut Section for its dedication and promotion for the sport.
