Evan Beirne now a pro
Evan Beirne was supposed to be a member of the CSGA Amateur team in the Challenge Cup, but was replaced by Tom Scarrozzo from Blue Fox Run GC.
The reason? Beirne is now a professional. He has completed his senior year at St. John's. When he applied for the Massachusetts Open, Beirne was told that only amateurs from Massachusetts were allowed to participate for the event being held June 27-29 at Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg.
So Beirne had to turn pro. He will not be able to defend the Palmer Cup later this month, nor the Met Amateur later this summer.
