None of my three U.S. Open picks were ever in contention last week and one of them missed the cut.

1) Ryan Moore: Three top-5 finishes in this event, including a tie for second last year behind Fredrik Jacobson. He's due to pick up PGA Tour win No. 2.
2) Zach Johnson: Has never been in contention here, but Johnson is having a good season, already having won last month at the Colonial.
3) Hunter Mahan: After four straight top-4 finishes in this event, Mahan has missed the cut and tied for 43rd place in his last two trips to Cromwell. And he hasn't been in contention on tour since winning the Houston Open on April 1.
