The Travelers Championship golf tournament announced on Wednesday that defending champion Bubba Watson would be playing in this year's event Aug. 4-7 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

Watson is currently ranked fourth in the world golf rankings. His ninth and last victory in the PGA Tour came in February at the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles. He has two other top-10 finishes this season.

Among Watson's tour wins are a pair of Masters titles in 2012 and 2014. Both of his victories at the Travelers came in sudden-death playoffs: against Scott Verplank and Corey Pavin in 2010 and against Paul Casey last year. He has four other top-six finishes at the Travelers.

Previous announced commitments were: Casey, Louis Oosthuizen, Hunter Mahan, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley.
