ALS clinic in New Britain primary beneficiary for 2016 Travelers Championship

The ALS Clinic at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain will be the primary beneficiary for the 2016 Travelers Championship Aug. 4-7 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Travelers chairman Jay Fishman was diagnosed with ALS last year.

On Aug. 5, a fund-raising dinner will be held to support the Bruce Edwards Foundation for ALS Research. Edwards was a former longtime caddie on the PGA Tour and a Wethersfield native who lost his battle with ALS in 2004. Attending the dinner will be Fishman, Hall of Fame golfer Tom Watson, who Edwards worked as a caddy for many years and who helped start Edwards’ Foundation, and longtime sportswriter John Feinstein.

Tables for the dinner can be purchased by calling Tara Gerber at 860-502-6815 or online at TravelersChampionship.com.

The Travelers Championship will continue to support its many other charities, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
