Hoop news from around the state

two of my fellow colleagues came up with two interesting tidbits involving boys' basketball.

Sean Bowley from the Connecticut Post repoted that Harding coach Charlie Bentley has been reinstated and will coach tonight's FCIAC tournament semifinal against St. Joseph. Bentley has been on a paid leave of absence from both coaching and his job as dean of students at Harding for allegedly slapping a female student. All told, Bentley missed 13 games.

Joe Palladino of the Waterbury Republican-American reported guard B.J. Monteiro from Crosby-Waterbury has made a oral commitment to play college basketball at Duquesne, an Atlantic-10 school. Playing there already is former Crosby teammate Damian Saunders, who played center on that 2004-05 Division I state championship team.

Also, Shelton coach Joe Sedlock has stepped down after 19 years and 227 victories at the school.
