Dave Szewczul, a member at Tunxis Plantation Golf Course in Farmington, won the 13th New England Amateur golf championship Wednesday by 7 shots over Robert Linn from Massachusetts at Pawtucket CC in Rhode Island.
Szewczul shot rounds of 65 and 68 to post a 6-under-par total of 133. The next-best finisher from Connecticut was Bob Spaniotis (Wethersfield CC) in a tie for eighth place at 144. Bill Lee from The Course at Yale finished in a tie for 16th place at 145.
