If you have never heard of golfer David Mathis, don't worry...we haven't either.

Mathis shot a 6-under-par 64 to take a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Travelers Championship Thursday. Defending champion Fredrik Jacobson is one of three golfers one shot back with 65.

Mathis has never won on the PGA Tour and missed cuts in 10 of his first 11 tournaments this year. So we will see if he can hold up for Friday let alone Saturday.

The marquee pairing of Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley combined to shoot 10-under and are all still in contention. They go off the 10th tee t 7:45 Friday morning.
