State pros want high school season moved to fall

The majority of the state’s golf professionals were on hand for the Connecticut Section’s PGA Annual Spring Meeting Monday at the Hartford Golf Club.

The majority of those pros also raised their hands rather quickly when fellow head pro Ron Dellostritto asked a simple question to the membership: Would they be in favor of seeing the high school golf season move from the spring to the fall months?

Dellostritto, the seventh-year head pro at Wethersfield Country Club, sat in the front of the room so he didn’t see all of the hands raised. But he wasn’t that surprised.

“Having spoken to members of our Connecticut Section Board of Directors, they were unanimously in support so I was probably onto something,” said Dellostritto, who was the head pro at Brownson CC in Shelton for 12 years before coming to Wethersfield CC. “I thought that anyone who listened to the facts would vote in favor of it.”
