Golf coverage

No more live-tweeting or live-blogging at PGA Tour events?

Most of the general public won't care about this because they are watching PGA Tour events on the tube on weekends.

But for those fans who can't get to a TV or are at the event itself and want what's going on around the course and aren't near a leaderboard, may not be able to get that access on Twitter this year.

Posts by Jason McIntyre from USA Today and Pete Dougherty from timesunion.com discuss the issue that was emailed to golf writers covering the Farmers Insurance Open this weekend about banning live updates from the tournament or from elsewhere. Violation of this policy could lead to those covering the event having their credentials revoked.

It will be interesting to see if this can hold up for the rest of the tour season - and whether other major sports will follow the same pattern if the PGA Tour is successful in this regard.
