Gallo wins fourth CT Open
Kyle Gallo didn't go low Wednesdsay afternoon, but his 1-over-par 71 at The Country Club of Fairfield was good enough to win the Connecticut Open by 3 shots over Evan Beirne.
Gallo birdied the 10th hole, then parred his final eight holes. No one got closer than 2 shots. It was the fourth CT Open title for the 35-year-old Gallo. He won his other events in 1998, 2000 and 2004. He also pocketed $10,000.
Beirne, an amateur and a member at New Haven CC, playing in the second-to-last-group, made six birdies to get within 3 shots. His only mistake was a double bogey at the fifth hole. It is his best finish in the Open.
Two other amateurs, Tim Kane and Cody Paladino, finished third and fourth, respectively.
