final week of the fall season

Other than football, the fall season wraps up on Saturday.

Can Guilford win two more games and win the Class LL state championship? Farmington stands in the way in tonight's semifinals at Willow Brook Park. Seymour is still alive as the top seed in Class M and faces Granby at 5 tonight at Tunxis Meade in Farmington.

The Southern Conncticut Conference is guaranteed at least one team in the Class LL girls' soccer final Saturday as Mercy and Cheshire square off in tonight's semifinals at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury. Cheshire won both games during the regular season. Lauralton Hall faces St. Joseph in Class M Wednesday night at Fairfield Ludlowe.

Branford and Hand could be on a collision course in the Class M field hockey final if both teams won today. Both regular-season meetings were 1-1 ties.

In volleyball, Sacred Heart Academy and Law square off Wednesday night at Foran at 7 p.m. The winner plays in the final Friday night at Newington. Sacred Heart won at Law in the SCC tournament semifinals two weeks ago.

Football still has three weeks left. Hamden (Class LL), Hillhouse (Class MM), Seymour (Class SS), North Branford (Class S) and Ansonia (Class S) have either clinched, in Hillhouse's case, or control their own destiny to secure a playoff bid.
