Tony Kelley of Wyckoff Country Club parred the first sudden-death playoff hole to win the 81st Connecticut PGA Championship Wednesday at Ellington Ridge Country Club.
Kelley trailed Kyle Bilodeau (Race Brook CC) by two strokes heading into the final round. Both tied at 2-under 214 through three rounds of regulation. Bilodeau bogeyed the first sudden-death hole.
This is the fifth CT PGA win for Kelley and his fourth at Ellington Ridge CC.

Dave Szewczul, of Tunxis Plantation Country Club shot a 1-over-par 72 Tuesday to win the 67th Connecticut Senior Open Championship by three shots over Dave Blovish (Ellington Ridge C) at The Golf Club of Avon.


Szewczul finished with a two-round total of 4-over 146. Tom Scarrozzo of Blue Fox Run GC finished third at 150, followed by Michael Stecyk (Oronoque Village CC) at 151. Lou Stone of New Haven CC was tied for seventh at 153.

Kyle Bilodeau, an assistant pro at Race Brook Country Club, was one of just two players to shoot an even-par 72 at Ellington Ridge CC. That round gave him a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the 81st Connecticut PGA Championship.

Bilodeau is at 2-under 142 through two rounds, followed by Tony Kelley (Wyckoff CC) at 144. Ed Slattery (Candlewood Valley CC) and Jordan Gosler (Manchester CC) are both tied for third at 2-over 146, four shots behind Bilodeau. Mike Gramelis of West Haven and Golf Galaxy in Milford shot a 3-under-par 69 to take a one-shot lead over three golfers  after the first round of the 81st Connecticut PGA Championship Monday at Ellington Ridge Country Club.

Jordan Gosler (Manchester CC), Kyle Bilodeau (Race Brook CC), and Tony Kelley (Wyckoff CC) all shot 2-under-par 70 to finish 1 stroke behind Gramelis. Former winner and PGA Life Member Fran Marrello is in fifth place after a 1-under 71 and Mike Carney of Watertown GC, another former champion, is tied for sixth at even-par 72.

Bill Hermanson of the Black Hall Club shot a 1-over 72 to take a 1-shot lead after the opening round of the Connecticut Senior Amateur at the Golf Club of Avon.

Dave Blovish (Ellington Ridge CC) and Craig Dubois (QWintonbury Hills GC) are tied for second at 2-over 73 and Dave Szewczul (Tunxis Plantation CC) is fourth after a 74. Dave Zeid of New Haven CC is tied for fifth with a 4-over 75 and Lou Stone (New Haven CC) and James Klapper (Clinton CC) both shot 76.
