Bracken wins CT Senior Amateur

Jack Bracken of the Hartford Golf Club shot a final-round 76 Tuesday, which was good enough to win the 68th Connecticut Senior Amateur Championship at Tallwood Country Club on Tuesday.

Bracken finished with a two-round total if 1-over-par 145. Bill Hermanson (Black Hall Club) finished second at 3-over 147. Robert Barnes from The Course at Yale finished in a three-way tie for third at 148 while Lou Stone (New Haven CC) tied for sixth at 149.

The Jake Benefit tournament

Ex-mini tour pro golfer Pete "Jake" Jacobson will host The Jake, his first tournament on Wednesday at Ridgefield Country Club. It will benefit the fight against multiple sclerosis, which Jacobson has been battling since 2007.

After both a successful pro and amateur career, Jacobsen stopped playing in 2011.

The best ball tournament for teams of two features three separate divisions: men’s (80 percent handicap); women’s (80 percent handicap) and scratch (no handicap). Professionals are welcome. The  1 p.m. shotgun includes golf, cart, range, lunch, dinner, drinks, on-course contests, prizes, drawings and a silent auction. Sponsorship opportunities are currently available.
