The "new" Madison Country Club set to reopen June 6

What started as a plan to redo six greens turned into a complete restoration project for Madison Country Club (pictured above)

Yes, that is correct: every fairway, every green and every bunker was redone for the private course that will reopen on June 6.

“Every inch has been redone,” Madison CC head pro Frank Carta said. “It’s unheard of, to rebuild a golf course in 70-75 days.”

The course was closed on Sept. 1. Carta said Agri-scape, the construction company that executed the job, had already started to do a little bit of work before then. Everything had to be completed before snow started to fall to allow ample time for everything to grow in.

Carta said the target date to reopen was May 24, but the extra two weeks gives the course more time to be ready for play.

Bilodeau earns spot in Travelers Championship

Kyle Bilodeau from Ellington Ridge Country Club shot his second straight 1-under-par 71 to win the Spring PGA Stroke Play tournament Friday by two shots at The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts.

With the win, Bilodeau earns his first exemption into the Travelers Championship, which will be held June 25-28 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Adam Rainaud (Black Hall Club) and Brent Paladino (Connecticut State Golf Association) tied for second at even-par 140. Rainaud won this tournament and the exemption last year.

First-round leader Fran Marrello shot a 77 to finish in a five-way tie for fourth place.
