Quinn second at Dunhill Cup

Amateur golfer Rick Quinn of Madison and pro teammate Rich McEvoy shot 7-under-par 65 to stand in second place after three rounds in the pro-am portion of the Dunhill Links Championship being held at St. Andrews in Scotland.
Quinn and McEvoy are at 20-under, four strokes behind the leaders Robert Karlsson and Dermot Desmond. There are five groups tied for third at 19-under, including pros Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Padraig Harrington, all of whom were on last week's victorious European Ryder Cup team.

Madison man fifth in pro-am

Rick Quinn of Madison is tied for fifth place with pro teammate Rich McEvoy in the pro-am portion of the Dunhill Links Championship being held at St. Andrews in Scotland.
Quinn and McEvoy are at 13-under-par through two rounds, four strokes behind the leaders. The pro-am also includes actor Hugh Grant, singer Huey Lewis and former tennis pro Tim Henman. The tournament concludes Sunday.

Barnsley wins CT Match Play Championship

Paul Barnsley, the head pro at Race Brook Country Club in Orange, defeated Greg Farland (Quaboag CC) 5 and 4 to win the Connecticut Section PGA Match Play Championship Thursday at Crestview CC in Agawam, Mass.
Barnsley was 2 down after just three holes, but won five of his last six holes on the front nine to go 3-up. He eventually closed out Farland on the 14th hole.
Barnsley will now try to help Race Brook CC retain the Robert Pryde trophy on Sunday in the second annual matches against the Course at Yale at Yale.
