Zach Zaback from TPC River Highlands in Cromwell shot a three-round total of even-under-par 207 to win the 13th Russell C. Palmer Cup Tuesday by six strokes at Country Club of Waterbury.

Zaback, who graduated from UConn earlier this month, closed his 36-hole day Tuesday with a 67. Corey Birch (Silver Spring CC) finished second at 6-over 213.

Connor Looney, also from TPC River Highlands, placed third at 8-over 215 while Geoff Vartelas, the former Xavier High standout who plays out of Lyman Orchards GC, took fourth (216). Ex-Chehsire High standout Eric Dietrich (The Farms CC) tied for fifth with Chet Hrostek (GC at Oxford Greens).

Defending champion Ben Day from New Haven CC missed the cut Monday.
