Decko unleashes El Cabon on the golf world

Art Decko has spent most of his life promoting the game of golf, once as the head pro at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield and as a tournament director for charity events, most recently for the Housing for Heroes Classic.

His most recent venture is a little bit of self-promotion, as well as doing something good for the game. Every Friday, his new alter ego, El Cabon, appears on bigtvonline.com with a brief episode of him in a Zorro-like costume providing a golf lesson.

“The character is recreated in terms of doing these episodes,” Decko said. “We are providing humor through golf, and in the case of the El Cabon character, through the rules of golf.”

Decko admits getting the idea from an old cartoon character he saw when he was younger, El Kabong. Also, Decko said he studied television production while attending the University of Houston in the early 1960s.

Find out about about Decko's partner in this new venture.
