Khang wins CT Women's Open


CLINTON — Megan Khang made her first appearance in the Connecticut Women’s Open a memorable one.

The 14-year-old amateur from Rockland, Mass., shot a second-round 73 Wednesday to win the 14th Women’s Open by two shots over Lynn Valentine at Clinton Country Club.

“My father told me to relax and play my own game and things would come our way,” Khang said.

Salito wins Lowell Tournament


Club at River Oaks head pro Ralph Salito won the Walter Lowell PGA Tournament at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass., Tuesday with 26 points in the Stableford event. Salito is a 2012 candidate for Secretary of The PGA of America. 
Each PGA Member was divided up into one of four divisions, all named for roles that each PGA Professional fulfills throughout their day.
In the youngest, Junior Golf Mentor Division, those with 0-6 years of PGA service, Joe Mongillo of Hop Meadow CC won with 19 points in a match of cards. 
In the Player Developer Division between 6-16 years of service, Steve Madision of the GC of Avon accumulated 22 points. In the The Promoter of Golf Division is for those with 16-26 years of service to The PGA of America, Larry Thornhill of Alling Memorial GC won with 23 points over PGA Active Member Fran Marrello with 19.
 Paul Ryiz of Brownson CC won the Community Leader Division with a total of 24 points.
